We are trying to figure out what to do with this unit. The door intercom seldom works. If we can find a replacement from a different manufacturer, we may go that route. There is an alarm, but it doesn't let you choose any wake up sound except the radio.
The unit has been sent out for repairs once, but still doesn't work very well. We have numerous complaints.First is the durability. The door chime worked until about 4 months ago. This unit is REALLY expensive to buy up front and REALLY expensive to fix.Second is the features.
To connect our IPod to the unit, we could have purchased the $200 iPod dock, or we ran a cable through the wall to the Aux connection. None of them work when you want them to. The radio stopped working about 5 months ago. Now the unit is clicking constantly as it turns on and off the intercom feature. We have one of these units in our house.
This unit is an intercom first and a sound system second. We have a stereo from 1990 with more features than this sound system. Pretty low tech. The radio and the CD are very ho humm. We are not sure what to do with this unit. The intercoms sometimes work in the house. I think that technology was solved in the 1980s.
Sometimes, it just turns on the outdoor intercom (a surprise because pressing the door talk button does nothing) and we can hear traffic in the street. If it wasn't built into our house, it would be in the trash can. If you're looking for an in house sound system, I recommend looking else where. Or, we may pull it out of the wall and give up on an intercom in the house.
The attachment bugs seem to have been brass bolt punched in and about a half dozen threads (of a total about 50)had been stripped. New out of the box. I could snug some and others I removed the bolt and replaced with brass ring-shank tack to ensure good contact.
